- Treatment of lipid disorders: treats primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia alongside dietary changes when non-drug measures such as diet and exercise are insufficient. - Primary prevention of cardiovascular events: reduces cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in patients with moderate or severe hypercholesterolemia who are at high risk of a first cardiovascular event, alongside dietary changes. - Secondary prevention of cardiovascular events: reduces cardiovascular mortality and recurrence in patients with a history of myocardial infarction or unstable angina, with or without hypercholesterolemia. - Lowers blood lipids in transplant recipients taking anti-rejection medicines.
